About Horizon

Horizon has always held a special place in her heart for dance. In childhood she studied Ballroom & Latin, Disco and then Modern, Ballet, Jazz and Musical theatre and joined the Academy of Performing Arts at the age of 12 and began to perform on stage.

During her A' levels she was introduced to Physical Theatre dance by the amazing V-TOL dance company. They inspired her to choose to study a BA in Performing Arts at the University of Hertfordshire where she studied Contemporary dance, Physical theatre dance along with Jazz & Ballet.

In 2004 a friend (thank you Leah) introduced her to Bellydance and she found a new passion, the beat of the Egyptian Drums! Horizon began studying Raqs Sharqi (traditional Egyptian dance) with Claire Morgan and Bridget Poulter along with exploring the variety of fusion dvd's that are avalible and although she enjoyed folk dance her heart was drawn to Tribal Bellydance after seeing a Rachel Brice performance . Everything about Tribal Bellydance had her name written on it, from the costumes, to the alternative music and even the goddess connections. Horizon began ATS classes with Nicola Atkins in May 2007 and is now hooked on the beautiful art that is 'Tribal'. Horizon travels the counrty attending dance workshops and was totally blown away by UNMATA late last year, Amy has become an inspiration for me, giving me the courage to fues what she knows of Western dance with the sensual & beauty of the dances of the East to create Contemporary fusion bellydance.

Horizon dances a variety of styles includingAmerican Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion and Contemporary fusion Bellydance. ATS is an improvisational group format where dances have a large movement vocabulary and a cue system to tell the dancers when to change moves. There is a lead dancer who chooses the moves as and when the music inspires her to do so and any of the dancers can 'take or hostile the lead' which makes this dance format mesmerising to watch! Tribal fusion concentrates on issolations and is often refered to as 'snake like dance'.

As a solo dancer & choreographer Horizon enjoys fusing her love of tribal bellydance with her passion in contemporary dance. It is so exciting to take a peice of music and explore all the contracting and complementing rhythms.

Locally Horizon teaches Contemporary Bellydance in Hertfordshire and is the Artistic director of Imajica. Three beautiful dancers who's repitore explores their love of modern music to create a vibrant spectacle..

2008 is to be a very exciting year with many performance opportunities for both Horizon and for Imajica. There are lots of opportunity to take workshops with some amazing dancers & troupes and we hope to see you at an event soon.

Here's to a fantastic Year!
