The Azimuth
azimuth 2 aminuth group
The Azimuth was created in 2009 to give my students the opportunity to perform. To create opportunities to perform in front of an audience, to develop their own individual stage persona and true to form each member of the Azimuth adds their own sparkle to our performance. Most of the dancers have some previous experience performing but for some this is the first performance platform. We all now share a vision, one of both creative and individuality, whilst supporting each other which are we feel the pinnacle elements in Tribal bellydance.

Since its creation the Azimuth, named by Layla (thank you) has gone from strength to strength and we now concentrate on performing Gypsy Style Tribal Fusion.  Our choreographies are vibrant and we enjoy exploring using props, such as 25 and 10 yard skirts and Bowler Hats. To me it is important that my dancers are given the opportunity and freedom of expression, our choreographies have lots of layers which the dancers are then expected to; add their own flare, individuality and personality via their own costumes. I really love being a part of the Azimuth and will continue to my role as Artistic director for as long as they will have me, but there are dancers in the troupe who also like to choreograph so I hope in the future the role of choreographer will be shared.
